Our Cruise Continues

Our incredible cruise continues

After crossing the equator we arrived in Lima, Peru for two days.

LIMA, PERU – The port is a working port and we were not allowed to walk around except a very small area around the ship. We could take a shuttle to the entrance of the port but have been advised not to venture out as it is very dangerous, bummer as I love to take my camera and just wander.

The Start Of Our Cruise

What an incredible ride 2016 was! It was dotted with many events and trips but ended with a fantastic cruise from Los Angeles to Santiago, Chile.

We flew to Los Angeles the end of November and spent several days there visiting friends and family.

We then spend several days with Mike’s sister, Patty at her wonderfully relaxing home in Bodfish before the three of us headed to San Pedro to spend t...

November flew by

November was a typical month for us with all our normal errands and  just wandering and enjoying all the sites and sounds of Cuenca. I have no idea what festival was going on this day, the people here love to celebrate!

Not Too Busy In September

Although we continue with our monthly commitments – Mike’s writing group, our lunch bunch group, the writers conference committee and my girls’ spa day – September wasn’t as busy as some months. So, this month’s update is going to be short and sweet as I thought I would share a few pictures and some interesting tidbits about our life in Cuenca.

I have been writing the “Date Nig...

Summer Should Be Here Soon

OK, September isn’t over yet so I am fashionably late for my August newsletter. I know I keep saying it, but we seem to be as busy as ever and are constantly running out of hours in our day. We even mark two days a week as NO COMMITMENTS so we can spend time together.
It was a fun month...

June And July In Beautiful Ecuador

June turned out to be a real bust. We were supposed to go to the coast and spend a few days with Mike’s brother and his family but the day before they left we both got sick. And that nasty bug hung on for about three weeks so we didn’t do too much. We did attend a two-day Book Marketing Boot Camp put on by our friend Lynne Klippel and got lots of ideas for promoting Mike’s books...

I’m late again!

Well, only a month late as these are our May adventures.
Several months ago a handful of friends met for lunch. This was the beginning of the Cuenca Lunch Bunch, a group of friends who meet for lunch the first Wednesday of every month. We are not a club or organization, just a group of friends who enjoy each other’s company. One month we might have 5 people attend and the next we might have 16...

“Jungle Boogie”

I am almost caught up, April is the last!
The month was filled, as usual, with all sorts of activities from lunches with friends to watching impromptu parades.

*IMG_3207**2

Several of us gals decided to start a “Girl’s Spa Day” and once a month head out to Baños to one of the spas. Baños is only about a 20-minute ride on the local bus and for those of us over 65, the ride only costs 12.5¢!!

I’m still catching up, here’s March!!

OK, here I am again for the second week of catching up. This time I will share what our March looked like.
We started the month off by spending four days and three nights at Hacienda Chan Chan, a combination bed and breakfast and family-run dairy farm. It is located just outside of Cuenca near the small, rural community of Chiquintad...
